Outreach & Community Engagement

To better serve professional and local communities, I try to capitalize on my talents and volunteer where I can be the most productive. I've done plenty of marketing projects by creating websites, newsletters, email campaigns, and organizing numerous fundraising, networking, educational, and cultural events. In addition, I've been doing professional SME marketing consulting for other companies.

"Dina provided essential insights and was a joy to work with during her time as a consultant to Aktiv Learning (101Edu/Chem101). She understood how to support chemistry professors in enhancing their pedagogical knowledge, planned educational events, and wrote impactful educational content. Her deep understanding of chemistry-related teaching, learning, and curriculum enabled Aktiv Learning to share practical as well as innovative ideas and strategies with the wider chemical education community and I was continually impressed with her creativity, professionalism and productivity."  - Dvora Inwood, Strategic Consultant for Innovative SaaS

I am passionate about improving the scientific literacy of the general public, encouraging girls and women to find the confidence to pursue STEM careers, advocating for equal pay and better working arrangements for men and women in sciences, and helping underrepresented minorities in chemistry. That is why, for a number of years, I served on the board of one of the largest scientific organizations in the world - the American Chemical Society (Milwaukee section). During that time, I was able to establish communication with 800+ members and organized numerous dinner meetings, presentations, classes, poster sessions, and monthly Science Café meetings.

I organized community outreach events to increase awareness and appreciation of science. They were a huge success! National Chemistry Week involved more than 300 children who explored some science behind forensic chemistry. During our Girls and STEM event more than 350 girls participated in "the science of smell" activities!

Currently, I am dedicating my time outside of family and work to another charitable, cultural, and educational non-profit organization, the Wisconsin Ukrainians.  This volunteer organization was able to raise more than $500,000 in one year thanks to our fundraising efforts.
